Autumn holidays in South Tyrol
Our farm is located directly on the famous Chestnut Trail and is therefore an ideal starting point for hikes from Varna to Renon through the chestnut groves. In autumn numerous Törggelen taverns offer their gastronomy.
Törggelen originates from the old custom of farmers and wine merchants to taste young wine in autumn, between the beginning of October and the beginning of Advent. In the “Buschenschenken” (taverns) of South Tyrol, this “new wine” is served with meat, sausages, cabbage, and dumplings. Sweet krapfen and roasted chestnuts are a worthy finale to this typical meal.
Autumn – harvest time
The arrival of autumn, which runs from September to November, is heralded by an explosion of colours, scents and aromas. From the end of September onwards, the forests appear in all shades of red, yellow and orange… The hot summer days are increasingly turning into pleasantly mild and crystal-clear autumn days. Day after day, the apples on the branches and the grapes on the vines become more and more colourful and a plentiful harvest is announced. A sweet and refreshing smell wafts through the air, in the sky huge flocks of birds migrate southwards – a great spectacle of nature!
The farmers reap the fruits of their hard work. You are welcome to take part – enjoy our magnificent natural landscape.
